For my master's thesis project I chose to explore the eighteenth century diplomat, the Chevalier d'Eon, whose radical shift in gender from male to female caused turmoil in a politically hostile French court. Depicted below are three examples from over twenty renderings I created for this project. Also shown are two samples of costumes I constructed from my designs. Keeping in theme with the Chevalier's own story, the model chosen to wear the rococo-influenced gown was male.
